What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal has been around for a number of years. There has been all kind of light-based devices put in salons and clinics that claim to give permanent hair reduction. However, it is believed and generally accepted around the world that there are very few systems that can offer consistent results for hair removal and one of the highly recommended in the industry is the Nd: Yag laser.
How does it work?
An intense beam of light passes safely through the upper layers of the skin and targets the colour centre in the hair follicle known as the melanin. Which causes the follicle to heat up cauterizing the blood vessel feeding the follicle (disabling it and preventing further hair growth.)
How many treatments are needed and how long does it take?
A course of laser treatments can be carried out at 4-8 weekly intervals. The number of treatments required can vary from person to person. On average 6-8 treatments are needed for optimum results.
How long does each treatment take?
Treatment time can be anything from 10 minutes to 2 hours depending on size of the area being treated.
